How does a spinning drum remove water from clothes?
Fit drum, drive belt and drain pump
The drum keeps the fabric moving in a circle. Water can leave through the perforations into the surrounding tub and drain. An eccentric load produces a rotating force on the bearings.
0.25 m drum radius, imbalance eccentricity 0.15 m. Drive inhibits above 250 N imbalance. Water extraction exp(−g t/10000) is an illustrative empirical curve, not a fabric model; rpm is limited by the chosen controls.
Extract water at over 200 g while the imbalance force stays below 250 N.
Compare water extraction with balanced and unbalanced loads.
