Fit the plate core and both air movers
Two fans move separate streams past opposite sides of thin plates. Heat crosses the plates while the air remains in its own channels. A bypass avoids the core when recovery is unwanted.
Ideal dry counterflow exchanger, UA=25 W/(m²·K) times core area; air density 1.2 kg/m³ and cp=1005 J/(kg·K). No moisture transfer, frost, leakage or duct losses. Fan power is an illustrative cubic flow curve; there is no compressor.
Deliver outdoor air at 14 °C or warmer from 0 °C, recovering at least 60% of the available sensible heat.
Warm fresh air using heat from separate exhaust air.
