Can a rope make a load feel lighter?
Complete the rope route before pulling.
A moving pulley is supported by two strands of the same rope. Each strand carries half the load. You pull twice as much rope as the load rises, so the smaller force is paid for with more distance.
Ideal massless rope and frictionless pulleys. This arrangement has two supporting strands: mechanical advantage 2. Pulling twice the load travel conserves work.
Raise the load using half its weight as your pulling force.
