Which rays stay trapped inside a fiber’s core?
Fit the components before testing.
When incidence at the core–cladding boundary exceeds the critical angle, the ray undergoes total internal reflection. An internal launch angle measured from the fiber axis therefore needs to be small enough. Attenuation still reduces guided power.
Step-index meridional geometric ray model, n_core=1.48 and n_clad=1.46. Internal axial angle differs from the external acceptance angle. Straight enlarged cutaway; no modal dispersion or connector-loss model.
Guide a ray and retain at least 75% of input power.
Guide light while limiting attenuation.
