Why does a pan heat without touching a hot burner?
Fit inverter, work coil and target pan
Alternating coil current creates changing magnetic flux. It drives closed eddy currents in the conducting pan; electrical resistance converts their energy to heat.
Illustrative coupling curve, not a cooktop design: Ppan=0.8 Pin(1−exp(−f/8 kHz))exp(−gap/10 mm), c=500 J/(kg·K). A conductive target is required. Startup transients, ferromagnetic losses and heat loss are omitted.
Raise a 0.5 kg metal pan by at least 80 °C with induction power.
Compare heating with AC, DC and a nonconducting target.
