Why is there another weight beside the lift?
Fit the car, counterweight and cable.
The counterweight moves down when the car moves up. It balances much of the car’s weight, so the motor mainly handles the difference. The door interlock inhibits movement while the doors are open.
Ideal traction lift, 500 kg counterweight, 3 m floor spacing. Motor balances the weight difference; acceleration and friction omitted. Doors must be closed. Counterweight moves opposite the car.
Lift the car while the counterweight travels in the opposite direction.
Move between floors with the door interlock satisfied.
