Doctor Strange's Portals.
Can a portal give you free energy?
Can a portal give you free energy?
Fit each assembly on its seat before starting.
The entry ring receives the ball. The exit ring rotates its velocity according to an explicit fictional rule. Speed remains the same, but a higher exit raises potential energy. The ledger assigns that difference to the portal instead of calling it free energy. Momentum also changes, so the apparatus must take the opposite impulse.
Traversable portals are fictional. The selected teaching rule maps entry velocity by a 2D rotation and preserves speed. Ball mass is 1 kg; entrance height is the zero of potential. Portal exchange is m g Δh, positive for energy supplied by the portal and negative for energy removed. Equal and opposite momentum exchange is shown as the apparatus impulse. Ballistic motion after exit neglects air resistance; the finite illustration shows entry and a short exit segment rather than an entire flight.
Map the ball through an exit at least 5 m higher and rotated at least 45°, then account for the added gravitational energy.
Fit two portal rings and follow one ball through.
