What does it take to catch a sharp image?
Fit all three components before opening the shutter.
A lens forms an inverted image. The sensor must lie at that image plane to capture a sharp picture. A wider aperture admits more light; a longer exposure collects more light and allows more motion blur.
Thin 50 mm lens, object at 1,000 mm. Sensor position maps to 30–70 mm. Relative exposure scales with 1/(f-number²×shutter denominator). Image blur and motion are illustrative, not a photographic sensor simulation.
Capture a focused image with the sensor at the calculated image distance.
