Where does a battery’s energy go?
Complete the cell and external load path.
Chemical reactions move electrons through the outside circuit and ions through the electrolyte inside the cell. Both paths matter. Charging uses an external energy supply to drive the reaction in the opposite direction.
Conceptual rechargeable 10 Wh cell. Energy state is illustrative, not electrochemistry. Electrons move outside, ions inside. Charging requires energy from an external supply.
Build both paths: electrons outside and ions inside the cell.
Compare electron and ion paths during charging and discharging.
